Braia Dolomites

Braies, South Tyrol, Italy – 2026

When the view sets the tone

Sometimes architecture doesn’t need a grand gesture. It simply needs the confidence to step back. At Braia Dolomites, the view opens across the Braies Valley towards the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites. A setting that doesn’t need to be enhanced, but simply given room to breathe.

Warm, earthy tones and furniture crafted from reclaimed spruce create a quiet backdrop for what happens outside. Generous openings draw the landscape into the interior, turning it into an ever-changing picture: crisp and cool in the morning, warm and soft in the evening. The architecture takes a step back. The view becomes the protagonist.

The common areas

A pattern that connects

The diamond motif becomes a recurring element throughout the project. Inspired by traditional Alpine patterns, it is reinterpreted in a contemporary way and transformed into an architectural detail.

On the exterior, it gives rhythm to the building envelope; inside, it finds its strongest expression in a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Stube: a room within a room that creates a sense of intimacy while framing the mountain landscape beyond. A permeable timber structure wraps across the walls and ceiling.

During the day, natural light filters through the structure, casting ever-changing patterns across the interior. At night, the effect is reversed: the Stube glows from within, becoming a luminous object in its own right.

The apartments

At home outdoors

Across the five apartments, the design is deliberately understated. Reclaimed spruce, natural stone, natural textiles and warm, muted tones bring warmth to the interiors, while bespoke furniture creates clarity and leaves room for what matters.

Because the real luxury lies beyond the windows. Generous openings frame meadows, forests and the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites, drawing the landscape deep into the interior. Materials and colours deliberately take a step back, allowing the view to speak for itself.

Each apartment extends outdoors, with its own private sauna and whirlpool immersed in the landscape and always facing the Dolomites. The result is a series of retreats poised between warmth and openness, intimacy and that particular feeling of suddenly being very close to the mountains.
